No, I don't scare them - they laugh so much at my accent...
Though I don't call myself a good singer, I did a reso-based version of
"Good Year for the Roses" with a Japanese country band the other night,
which actually did seem to bring tears to the eyes of some of the audience.
I've started experimenting and tuning that lower D string up to E, by the
way - since I have an 8-string lap steel in C6, it's not that weird for me,
and it's nice to have the minor chords and m7 chords under the steel, as
well as the 6, of course. I think that Cindy Cashdollar could be my friend
here.
