Richie, I'd hardly call that lemon of mine "new".
I guess compared to your "Champ" it's somewhat
newer. 12 years old now, and going downhill fast !
I met the fellow that had the original Vt. "DOBRO" license
plate about 1977 at a festival in N.Y. He later gave it up
for some reason. I scarfed it up sometime in the mid- "80s.
At that time, you could only have up to 5 charactors on your
plate.
I went to a nearby store on my lunch break one day,
and I spotted a new Vt. plate with 7 digits on it. Needless
to say, the wheels started turning. As soon as I got home
that day, I picked up a registration form. "BLUGRAS" was
one of the first 7 digit plates that was issued. Can't
remember when I got it. Sometime around 1989 I think.
here it is today

A friend of mine gave me his expired N.Y. plates when
he had them replaced with the new style. They are
"BLUGRAS", "BLUEGRAS" commercial plate, and
"DOBRO" (the old N.Y. orange plate from long ago.
