I play sitting down, due to back problems. I use a
swivel-seat stool, and, to avoid sitting way below the
rest of the band on stage, the legs are quite long,
and I use a footrest to keep the guitar from sliding
off my lap. It is only about 5 inches high, about 16
inches long, and both feet go on it.
Chair height while sitting to play can be critical for
comfort. Your (at least, my) legs need to be low
enough so the guitar is low enough to keep the edge of
it from cutting into my forearm and making my fingers
tingle after half an hour. There is always a folding
chair of a comfortable height in my car, for jam
sessions where everyone sits in a circle.
If you are asking about a foot rest for playing while
standing, I don't think such a thing would be
practical. Your attention would have to be diverted
to putting your foot up on it, and your balance would
be harder to keep.
