FWIW, the Zoom H2 seems to work pretty well as a USB mic. You actually
don't have to turn it on or run its batteries--it'll run off the power from
the USB port and "comes to life" when you plug in the USB cable. You do
have to hit a couple of menu selection to let it know you want it to act as
a mic rather than transfer files. Not as convenient as a dedicated mic,
maybe, but pretty convenient all the same.
