"He is such a team player and it seemed Emmy Lou is not like Alison. She
doesn't seem to appreciate what a great dobro player can do. There were
no stand out dobro "breaks" with them at Merlefest and no duets or back
and forth between Emmy Lou and Mike the way Alison and Jerry reflect
each other's melody lines."
-and-
"I think that might be why there is a difference in the number of grammys
between them all. Alison, understands the whole concept of music."
The above represent 2 of the funniest snippets it's been my joy to read
since the list's inception in 1997. One or both may be in jest, can't
tell. I've forwarded these along to Mike, just in case he'd like to
respond. I don't want to speak for him.
I would point out that Emmylou Harris and Mike Auldridge have had both a
personal and professional relationship that goes back almost 30 years.
Emmylou's harmonies can be found on early Scene tracks (yeah...singing
tenor over Duffey) and Mike can be found on classic Emmylou tracks.
Mike personally told me that touring with Emmylou was one of the best of
a lifetime of gigs. He was treated like "royalty" (my words) and had
hoped that he could play steel on Emmylou's new project...She chose not
to go with a steel unfortunately.
It'll be interesting if Mike responds...
Y'all are entitled to opinions, but the above is just plain wrong on so
many levels.
My sinuses hurt so bad after blowing coffee through my nose.
