Amen, Sir.
While I am a musician in the barest sense, one of the things I noticed sitting
in the wonderfully silent and attentive audience at the Joe Val Festival last
month was that, while all the instruments in any particular band were playing
together, I was able to pick out and identify each one individually. This was
one of the great pleasures of the experience, and is probably one of the
reasons I cannot work on some unrelated task with "background music." I have
to concentrate on each note as it comes by me.
And here is a big thank you to the sound man for making that listening
possible.
