Who is Ferrell Stowe?
Hi List,
Tom Foote mentioned to me awhile back in a e-mail, that he was learning Ferrell
Stowe's rendition of "Wayfaring Stranger", and I thought to myself...."Yeah I can
do that!" and so I learned it. Ha! At least I thought I did, oh sure. Anyways
I'd never heard of Ferrell Stowe, so I thought "If Tom is listening to this guy,
maybe I should order his cd".....so I searched for his website, and I listened to
a couple of sound clips, and I orderd "Stobro's Blues."
Well let me tell you .....first of all....I DID NOT "LEARN" WAYFARING
STRANGER....no way, and no how!! I didn't even come close!!! Ferrell's version
of this wonderful old folk spiritual, is light years ahead of anything I even
dreamed possible! I'm listening to it as I type these words, and I can't begin
to tell you all how good this rendition of Ferrell's is.
As some of you know, I've had a dear friend going thru some serious medical
problems, (removal of a huge tumor) and the past several months, ending in her
succssful surgery this past week, has been something I'm just glad is over. My
point in mentioning this to you all, is that listening to this cd, has made life
a bit more bearable, and I can't give a better recommendation.....that I can
think of.....than that!
I hear that Ferrell Stowe has moved to Nashville and has been getting involved
in providing music for movie soundtracks, and if I understand this correctly, we
can all look forward to hearing our favorite instrument while watching the big
screen.
You can find out more about Ferrell Stowe from his web-site at
www.ferrellstowe.com
or email him at
Stobro44@hotmail.com
and "usual disclaimers" apply. I'm just grateful to have music of this quality
to listen to, it's the best "therapy" I can think of.
