Hi Kathy,
Finger picks are a personal "thing." I used to suffer with the same problems,
especially the hangnails.....owchies.... untill I took a seminar with Jimmy
Heffernan and the subject came up. I went home and spent the better part of an
evening, with a couple of sets of finger picks and a small pair of pliers, untill
I had the picks bent "just so." It made a big difference! There are many
different selections of fingerpicks to choose from and at one time or another,
I've tried them all! My main requirement is having secure fingerpicks. Nothing
is worse than having one loosen up (or even come off,) in the middle of a
solo.....not good! Someone mentioned the product "Gorilla Snot" which is, I
guess, a form of resin, but in a paste, and by putting a very small amount on
your fingertips, sorta "glues" the picks on. It can make an awful mess if you
use too much, I'll tell you. I learned from this list that if you simply put
your fingers in your mouth, as the saliva dries, it will
almost do as well to secure the fingerpicks, as the Gorilla Snot, and it's
nowhere's near as messy.
Let us know how you make out?
Richie
