I saw a demonstration of the self-tuning Les Paul at the Gibson store in
Nashville. From what I saw (they weren't allowing anyone to actually play
it - "too new"), it worked very well, and I thought it was really neat.

1 - I've always found that Les Pauls stay in tune very well anyway.
2 - You can quickly change from standard to open tuning. Might be handy for
some players, but I personally use open tunings only for slide playing, and
I prefer to use a different guitar (with higher action and much heavier
strings) for slide anyway, so...
Now an auto-tuning fiddle player, that would be something!
