Tut, a rule of thumb for seasoning a piece of wood is 1 year per inch in
thickness, yours would be ready to use in three years. I buy all my hardwood
directly from a mill and use this rule, I have never had a piece fail me yet.
This would sure be a nice piece for one of your boys if it has vertical grain or
Quartersawn..
