Hi, Michael;
    As my inexpensive starter reso I purchased an all metal Galveston. It
doesn't sound like the standard wooden body reso you all are used to. It has a
metallic, almost electronic "twang" to it that I sort of like. Besides the
weight the only real drawback to learning with a reso like this is that it
doesn't have the sustain of a wooden body reso.
    As a starter, as something that's playable, to see if the kid will take to
it or not I think a metal reso like this is just fine. Mine cost around $200.00
if I remember correctly.
   For those of you who remember me and wonder what happened to me, I haven't
given up on the reso. I've sort of submerged myself in a deep study of the reso,
which spilled over into my regular acoustic and electric guitar playing. Once
I've completed my task and have risen to where I feel comfortable playing
publicly again, technique wise, you'll hear from me regularly again.
    I thank you all for your invaluable help getting me started playing the
reso, which has helped all of my music. You are a very generous, kind, and
knowledgeable group that I'm very grateful to have stumbled across. Thank you
all.

Rat Man
