The actual question was to find out what C note on a dobro tuned to G
matches a Piano's Middle C. If I have this correct now, it's the first fret
of the fifth string. Fifth string being the second thickest string or
second closest to you as you play. Now, the reason I needed to know is that
I had to transcribe a particular lick and send off in email to a fiddler who
as we all know, know all about that theory stuff. I sent her first a list
of notes and she said it made no sense cause she didn't know which were
higher or lower. Her suggestion was to reference it all the middle c. That
C being called C4 ( and very explosive btw) and the B to C below it being
called *3 and the C# to B above it being called *5 and so on. Seemed easier
than writing it all out on music staff at the time. Although I also assumed
that the middle C must be the fifth fret on the third string and sent it off
to her that way. Apparently wrong, she probably plays the lick an octave?
Higher?

John D. Said 2nd String, First Fret for C.

Yep, the B strings BOTH lend the FIRST C on the G Tuned Fretboard.

My question now goes back to the original question of 'where's Middle C?'

Does that question refer to the C in the middle of the fretboard on the
dobro, or the actual cycles per second of a pure MIDDLE C on a piano
(256cps) . . . which would be two different things, I think . . . I have NO
idea what cps ratings are for the dulcimer fretboard!

You math/theory folks need to jump in and save this trainwreck I'm
engineering!!!

HELP!!! lol
