The figure of $2,380.6 billion I quoted for "money in our pockets" as of December 2001 is coded "LIQ" (liquid assets) and defined as "holdings of checking, savings, money market, and call accounts" by "all families."
I wonder if the information conveyed by John means that ALL loans from noncommercial-bank deposit-taking institutions are money creation or only some of them. If the latter, how do we know how much money they created?
