[Michael Lane} Douglas doesn't say, "The gap is evil,
destroy it at the root, prevent it from occurring"; he
says, "Compensate for it as it arises."

That's right. Attached also archived at

is a diagram from William Hixson that shows an
exponential divergence in respect to time between
nonfinancial corporate profit excluding interest
payments and profit including interest payments. He
mistakenly infers that the divergence is b_e_c_a_u_s_e
of interest, whereas it merely correlates to interest.
If the underlying debt is increasing exponentially in
respect to time, as explainable through the A+B
theorem, then the interest being paid on that debt,
though it is a linear function of the debt itself,
must be increasing exponentially. The actual root,
labor displacement, is a good, not a bad thing, and
must (or should) be rationally accommodated in a sane
world, financially. Hence the recommendation for the
Dividend, etc.

[Michael Lane} I would like the rule clarified who has
the right to "insist" on answers from whom. Is this a
prerogative of the moderator alone?
--------------------------
Anyone may insist, but as a practical matter I have
the sanctions. I am trying to move the discussion in
a meaningful direction, and experimenting on means to
accomplish that purpose.

You could have just gone ahead with it and avoided
these heavyhanded methods.* The simple fact is,
interest is a B-payment, it goes into prices, and the
consumer has to be provided with money to pay the
prices. Social credit as a solution to the A+B
problem is an INDIRECT approach. Douglas doesn't say,
"The gap is evil, destroy it at the root, prevent it
from occurring"; he says, "Compensate for it as it
arises."
Please extrapolate!
Michael
