"Anyone may insist, but as a practical matter I have the sanctions. I am trying to move the discussion in a meaningful direction, and experimenting on means to
accomplish that purpose." (Bill)
I would suggest, Bill, that it is unnecessary to your purpose to instil in others the fear of being cast into the outer darkness, "archived" at Geocities. You should realize that as a participant in what often become heated discussions, you cannot be objective in executing this sentence, especially when the "culprit" sinned in argument with you. A wise man would seek confirmation by others before doing this or, better yet, avoid it altogether. You can move the discussion in a meaningful direction by saying something meaningful and interesting that will draw others to engage. No one has the power to dominate the floor for the simple reason that each person picks and chooses what he wants to read. I pick and choose messages by the person sending, by the subject line, and by skimming it. That being the case, where is the need to archive people to the Gulags? If someone still cares to continue asserting the primacy of bank-interest, it need not detain you from extrapolating A+B.
