Hello All,
Henry Rayner said "Swarms of people from the Third world are taking over our
jobs. This policy is dumming us all down to lower living standards."
Dam Morin replied "...Everyone has the right to work and earn his living."
Both parties here suffer from confused understanding of how economic
reality effects us individually.
"Everyone has the right to work and earn his living" is linking the right to
work with the right to living. The statement implies that we need paid work
in order to live, and if work is in short supply, our life is in danger.
Of course, work is never in short supply; it is jobs (i.e. work rewarded
with
money) that are getting scarce and lead people to say that "swarms of
[foreigners]... are taking over our jobs..."
To give everybody a job (as Dan implies) is no solution. Full employment, in
the conventional sense, is less and less possible in any society due to the
relentless "progress of the industrial arts".
So let us demand not a "right to work and earn a living" but the fair
distribution of the "wages of the machine". *That* is the essence of Social
Credit.
Regards,
Janos

the cure is vigorously use of democracy.
Hello All,
I want to say I disagree. Remaining silent would imply I am in "your boat"
which is not the case.
Statement:
"Swarms of people from the Third world are taking over our jobs. This policy
is dumming us all down to lower living standards."
Response:
"Don't be selfish and be happy for those people. Everyone has the right to
work and earn his living. If a job is available, everyone can take it. It
is the job creator (employer) who decides who is best suited to do the work,
not the politician nor the voter. A job does not "belong" to a special
group. Everyone has an equal right to take job, including immigrants. This
is called personal FREEDOM. Myself, I have the right to take any job at any
pay and nobody has superior rights to decide if I am allowed to work. Who
are you to say to someone he/she cannot take a given job. What part of
FREEDOM don't you understand?
