I haven't read Ruskin, but I am reading a book that
you would probably find interesting, and probably useful for reinforcement. It
was published in about 1998 and I picked it up in a used book store more than a
year ago, but got round to the reading only recently. (Hospital
fare).
James Buchan, Frozen Desire: The Meaning
of Money. Farrar Straus Giroux, 1997
I look forward to your commentary on
Ruskin.

I am working on a two-part article on Ruskin
for Triumph of the Past. I wonder how many of you folks have read
Unto This Last and what you think of it. Ruskin takes the
classical political economists -- in particular John Stuart Mill -- to task
and urges a completely different conceptual foundation.
