(Joe replies:-) It is "a legal fiction entered into for the sake of
convenience." In Canada, and other countries of the British Crown
Commonwealth, ultimate title to all those 'hunks of nature' we call real
property is vested in the Sovereign, and are held privately only in 'fee
simple' and other descending orders of tenure from the Crown. What makes it
'proper' is the affixation of 'responsibility' for the proper care and
control of that land upon some individual in return for the priviledge of
its use.

(Joe replies:-) But 'my' site is not on the market. What is on the market
are the products on which I use my site for manufacturing and selling.
Which have nothing to do with what the market supposedly assesses my 'site
value' at, except I have to recover the tax charged on this arbitrary
assessment from the price of those products. In other words, from the
public. If all sites assessed at one time were on the market at once,
what would happen to the 'site values' that market is supposed to assess?

cite?

(Joe replies:-) You are familiar with the story of Joseph in the Bible?
The fellow sold into slavery in Egypt by his jealous brothers, and his
ultimate rise to power as Pharoah's 'Prime Minister'? And what he did when
he attained that exalted position?

But perhaps something a little more modern would be better. Ever hear of
an African 'President' by the name of Robert Mugabe?

"...the Father of his Country who abuses all his kids,
He took a wealthy nation and put it on the skids.", as one line from a
popular, but banned in 'Zimbabwe', little ditty about him goes.

He's a great believer in 'divvying up' land, too. Only there haven't been
any 'citizen's dividends' paid out yet from all this 'divvying'. Maybe
they're not needed. He's already made everyone in 'Zimbabwe' a
'millionaire'.

(Jeff continues:-) > Rather than turn land value over to speculators (as
current) or to politicians (as you fear), divvy it up and share it as a
Citizens Dividend.

(Joe replies:-) We need not ''turn land value over to speculators'', which
could very easily be rectified without having any property taxes at all, or
by allowing the 'State' (the politicians) to impose further control over us
through them either. If you're interested in 'how', there is a rudimentary
'plan' outlined in Major Douglas's "The Land for the (Chosen) People
Racket", which can be accessed on-line in PDF file form simply by e-mailing
a request to Wally Klinck. It is very well worth reading, and a possible
basis for some reforms far more practicable to everyone than the
'single-tax' ideas and their variants.
