So say the Latin American plantation owners who murder nuns and such.
As for evictions by public authorities, evictions occur by private
ones, too. Rather than choose between black or white - or even grey -
there is a better third way. Land dues in, rent dividends out. As for
what use to put to a particular location, make it the use that is most
efficient for the region, sparing the most land. Yuppies gotta live
somewhere, too. Or, if efficiency is not society's prime value, then
consciously choose to leave some sites at below optimal use, forcing
development to less than optimal sites, wasting land there. But do it
rationally, after discussion, not emotionally, with name-calling. Look
before you leap, as they say. Remember, to own you must owe - true
etymologically and ethically.
