Gary Willis is a relic of the 1920s just as surely as John Spong is.
Things have moved on even in the seminaries since the 1920s. Brother
Willis is ignoring an awful lot of very illuminating post-war study of both
Jesus and Paul.
Perhaps we could forward a copy of John Howard Yoder's "The Politics of
Jesus" or N.T. Wrights works on both Jesus and Paul, and h*ck maybe even
something from Walter Wink and see if any of that might drop any
enlightening hints on the possible outline of a Christian public
philosophy.
