I accept your diferencing, and you are right.
It was his dismissal of POLITICAL PARTIES that I should have made clear.
For I reject as useless, or at least outdated, his idea of trying to bind
individual candidates to SC policy outside of party involvement.
The UK model of representative democracy means that a candidate seeks to
represent ALL opinions within their constituency. Implying that their
constituents at least understand what the candidate will foster and
support in Parliament.
That the theory trails far behind the practice is merely an unfortunate
consequence of poor involvement by the electorate :-(
