POINT Taken John, but that doesn't stop me from thinking
of the Madia as a hostile entity uncooperative to our aims, which gieven
your definition of the main aims of ther Media I believe is the correct attitude
to take. Anyway no matter how we treat the Media the fact remains that they do
not make our task any easier.

Let's get the media into perspective. TV is about
entertainment, even in the news, not promoting ideas. Even if it wasn't
controlled, we would have to be clever to get anything on it. Radio: we can
and do get some time on local stations in NZ, but it needs to be well thought
out and topical. Newspapers: the big ones are not interested in splinter
groups unless they are quaint enough to make stories that sell papers.
They only record negative material about us as a result. Management of
the smaller ones has about the same attitude, made less favourable at times by
an abusive visit from some Social Crediter who hasn't had a badly-written
letter printed. Yes, it has happened here more than once.
Reporters, mainly with socialist backgrounds, tend to regard anything about
money that is strange to them as indeed strange and probably not
credible. Like the rest of us, they appreciate work made easy.
Something that can just be put straight into the columns is tempting. Material
written clearly and concisely can get through. Giving them factual
material from time to time just for their records, not publication,
helps. Mainly, it comes back to that hard work problem of getting enough
people on side to draw their attention. When roughly one third of the
voters from Auckland's North Shore up through the rural electorates in
Northland voted SC, we got very good treatment here from the
Press. Regards.

hi Jim
The mainstream
Media is basically controlled by the establishment, who, whether we like it or
not, are only concerned about maintaining the status quo obviously influenced
by the controllers of the banking system. It is hardly surprising that
mainstream Media both ignore or are actively hostile to anyone
advocating amy form of monetary reform, particularly along the lines we
advocate that would destroy the stranglehold of debt the banking system holds
over the rest of mankind. we can expect no help from the mainsteam Media at
all, but we will have to be very vigilent to ensure that material weplace on
the internet is not corrupted and distorted away from our main tenents or that
the basic concepts proposed by Douglas are not distorted out of all
recognition. In NZ we have always treated the mainsream Media as hostile. and
are very careful about what we direct towards them for
publication.

Good to hear you added those works to the
website Larry.
I didn't watch the show on Aberhart, but it
seems they misrepresented him, and totally ignored the reason he got into
politics in the first place (Douglas). Just goes to show that
the mainstream media is not going to be friendly to our cause, but the
internet is a wonderful tool.

There were a number of surprising
gaps, no mention of Ernest Manning or the stunning victory against the UFA
government. Of course only the official critic of Aberhart, David Elliot
was given the opportunity of ill defining Social Credit by dissing the
blood circulation illustration. But for the first time, friends of
Aberhart were given some airtime, hopefully it will lead to more
opportunities to define the man from people who actually knew
him.

PS. I am adding the books
The Meaning of Social Credit by Maurice Colbourne (1935) and
This Age of Plenty by C. Marshall Hattersley onto the website
later in the day.

And not a word about Douglas in the whole
thing. Typical. Social Credit portrayed as a form of
'fascism' that finally had some saving graces for a few initiatives
closer to 'socialist' ideology, and for providing good government.
One favourable comment I hadn't heard before was that
of Lord Tweedsmuir (John Buchan), then Governor-General of
Canada, who seemed to know something about genuine Social Credit.
Perhaps he had had some previous contact with Douglas in
England?
