DEVELOPMENT OFFICER – PART TIME POSITION

Expressions of Interest are now being sought for the position of Development Officer.

 

NSW Department of Tourism, Sport and Recreation is directly involved in the Government’s Community Solutions and Crime Prevention Strategy (CSCPS). The Development Officer is responsible for assisting the Project Coordinator – CSCPS to develop and deliver Departmental programs and services aimed at achieving specific outcomes to address equity, social justice and community issues and meet the sport and recreation needs of the Canterbury-Bankstown community. The Development Officer should be able to effectively interact with Arabic and Pacific Islander communities.

 

Selection Criteria:

 

  • Understanding issues affecting young people and culturally diverse communities in Canterbury and Bankstown LGAs.
  • Understanding issues affecting young people from Arabic and Pacific Islander communities.
  • Demonstrated success using sport and recreation in capacity building approaches to community development.
  • Proven experience in establishing and maintaining partnerships with government and community organisations.
  • Knowledge of networks of community organisations in Canterbury and Bankstown LGAs.
  • Highly developed skills in program implementation, evaluation, project management and reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills and ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of people.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Current driver’s license.

 

Common Selection Criteria also apply.

 

This is a temporary part-time position (3 days per week) for a period up to 6 months with possible extension.

 

Remuneration package: Clerk, Grade 3/4 (salary $44,265 pro-rata) plus superannuation and leave loading.
