The Youth Network of the Australian National Commission for UNESCO
invites young Australians aged 16-30 to apply for membership in the
Australian Delegation to the inaugural Pacific Youth Festival,
Tahiti, 17-22 July, 2006.
Members of youth organisations and individual young people are
eligible to take part in the Festival and join 1,400 others from
around the Pacific to debate and discuss issues relevant to young
people in the region. The themes of the Festival are:
* Education and training for all
* Social and professional integration
* Sustainable development
* Cultural diversity
* Health
* Equality
* Peace
* Active citizenship
* Good governance
Attendance at the Festival is self-funded, though the Network is able
to provide limited assistance in fundraising efforts. Conference
registration costs 25,000 Pacific Francs (approximately AUD$360) and
includes meals and accommodation. Delegates will also be required to
fund flights (some subsidised flights are available) and travel
insurance.
