Hi Finlay,
I definitely agree with you that financial literacy is a huge issue for
young people in Australia (and probably other parts of the world too).
There are actually a number of businesses/organisations that are doing
some work around the issue of financial literacy, including a few of the
major banks. You can check out some more info at the following
websites:

People, Grants

The Federal Government has also set up a Consumer & Financial Literacy
Taskforce to work out how these issues can be addressed in a consistent
manner across Australia. You can get more info about the Taskforce on

Subject: [youthgas] Financial Planning for Youths
Hi my name is Finlay Lafleur and I am a Financial Planner who
specialises in providing financial plans to young wealth accumulators
(18 to 30). I was wondering how many of you think financial management
is critical to young Australians. With consumer debts amongst the
younger generation hitting all time highs. I just wanted your views.
Further, I am in the process of putting a network of young business
people/entrepreneurs in Sydney together. Any ideas or suggestions how I
can make it attractive for young people to join. It will be a
non-profit organisation.
