Attention All Youth Gasers 

Nominations are open for the
Young Canberra Citizen of the Year Awards 

The Young Canberra Citizen of the Year Awards
highlights the hard work and dedication of young
people who contribute to the community. These wards
are acknowledged during National Youth Week in April
each year.  These awards recognise young people who
have shown extraordinary dedication to others, or
their community. Nominees must be aged between 12 and
25 years of age as of 22 December and reside in the
ACT. 

There are four award categories: 

Young Canberra Citizen of the Year 
This category recognises an individual who has
demonstrated leadership, shown extraordinary
dedication and has made significant personal
achievements. Thereby made a noteworthy contribution
to their community.

Encouragement Award 
This category recognises an individual young person
who has made a noteworthy contribution to their
community.
 
Personal Achievement 
This category recognises an individual who, having
overcome difficulties (such as issues relating to
family, culture, geographic location, health and/or
disability) and is an inspirational role model to
others.

Group Award 
This category recognises a group of young people who
have shown extraordinary dedication to others, or
their community.

The successful 2007 Young Canberra Citizen of the Year
will receive a $2000, The Group Award winners will
receive $800, the winner of the Encouragement Award
for young people 12-16 will receive $500 and the
recipient of the Personal Achievement award will
receive $200 from the major sponsor Community CPS
Credit Union. 

The ACT Government, Youth InterACT and the Community
CPS Credit Union, sponsors the Awards, with the
winners announced during National Youth Week in April
2007.  Nomination forms can be obtained by calling
6205 3064 or 52059286 or nominate online on
www.youth.act.gov.au. 

Closing date for nominations is 22nd of December 2006
