Do you have an opinion about being a teen and
dealing with your own or your friends' health concerns? Whether its depression,
drugs & alcohol, sexuality or relationships, that you have questions about,
we want to hear from you.
Family Drug Support is establishing a youth specific
health website to address the health issues you and your friends may encounter
and we need your help to navigate us to make sure we get the message right. This
project is a fresh start and we will be requesting your feedback on images,
messaging, and language, even what the website will be named!
We’re looking to conduct focus groups
in the following areas in the month of January, dates to be determined:
§
Campbelltown
§
Cherrybrook
§
Kogarah/St George
§
Parramatta
§
Illawarra region
§
Newcastle
region
Once that’s done you can join our
youth steering committee. It would probably mean a few meetings at a central
location, eg. Youth centre or a PCYC, until April and lots of email
communication in between, so you need to have regular access to a computer outside
school hours. It will require some commitment but would look great on your
resume as you pad it with some great experience and develop life and leadership
skills that will set you apart from others!
If you're interested, or have friends who
may be, and are between the ages of 11 and 25, contact Deborah Silva Project
Manager at deborahsilva@optusnet.com.au
or call 0423 157-332 for more info or to sign up for a focus group. I will be
sure to have food at every meeting, ‘cause I know it works like a charm.
