Subject: Call for Help: Vibewire's Interface

To whom it may concern,
I have recently been chosen to contribute towards Vibewire's annual
publication, Interface. Interface is a magazine anthology of new writing on
contemporary social, political and cultural issues. Generally, it's authors
are between the ages of 16 and 30 and represent a wide variety of
backgrounds, ideologies and interests.
This year there are 14 contributors between the ages of 18 and 29 covering a
wide range of topics. We wil be writing our articles over a period of 8
weeks and are encouraged to put as much effort into it as possible, through
both using our own opinions and drawing from other peoples thoughts and
experiences.
My article is called Put your hand up if you're interested and will discuss
initiatives like the National Youth Roundtable, State Youth Advisory
Councils, youth parliaments and youth councils that attract only young
people who are either already active in their communities or are very
interested in them. Ultimately I will be trying to find what this means for
the quality and accuracy of youth representation?
To assist me with writing my article I would be most grateful if you
answered the following questions. No names will be released, however, with
your permission I may use ages and whether you are a young person or youth
worker/ involved in the industry.
1. Age (If you permit it to be released):
2. How are you involved in the youth industry?
3. On what level have you been involved in youth participation?
(Local/State/National)
4. Describe the common young person you would encounter through youth
participation programs in your field of work/ experiences?.
5. Do you believe the people involved in youth participation accurately
represent young people of Australia? Why/Why not?
6. If no to question 4, what groups of young people are not being
represented?
7. How can this issue be fixed? How can more young people involved in youth
participation?
8. Do you have any good or bad experiences that could be used in my aricle
regarding youth representation?
Thankyou for your cooperation,
Joel Clark
