Dear Youthgassers,
Macquarie Legal Centre is running two full day workshops in Youth Week 2007
with the support of Griffith and Lismore City Council.
We will be in Griffith on Tuesday 17th April, and in Lismore on Friday
20th April.
The topics covered will include dealing with the police on the street,
police searches, police directions and move on powers, rights in
custody,supporting young people through police interviews, youth justice
conferences and the Young Offenders Act, bail, children’s court processes and
penalties.
The workshop is aimed at youth workers, welfare and community workers,
social workers, counsellors, lawyers, teachers, government employees or anyone
who works to support young people and children who are at risk of contact with
the criminal justice system.
The training will include a range of guest speakers like a practising
children's solicitor, police youth liaison officer and youth justice
conferencing manager.
