Hi guys this is a great resource, we always get a
really good respons from your members, could youplease post the following?
Hello all,
Calling all
states!!! In The Bin has now expanded its tour
and education program to a year round activity this is an exciting opportunity
for students young and old to learn basic skills of film making and for your
community to have its own film festival. Please find the information bellow
about what In The Bin dose.
In The Bin Touring Short Film Festival has been
operating for over seven years and has become Australia’s widest spread and most accessible Short Film
Festival. We would now like to take this opportunity to invite
your community to become a part of this unique event.
In touring In The Bin, our aim is to bring a new and
exciting form of cultural activity into communities, and to stimulate an
interest in the Short Film Industry. Your community has been
invited to take part in our festival and we would like to take this opportunity
to introduce you to our two packages, In The
Bin Film Festival and In The Bin
Education Program. There is also the option of running a
special program in which In The Bin will with the assistance of your community
make a short film/ documentary on your community that can be used for tourism
promotion or as a historical piece that can be viewed by audiences for years to
come. In The Bin along with the community of Barcaldine QLD, worked
together to create a documentary in 2005. The Students
of Barcaldine received an Australia
Day Award for their film and the whole community felt as though they
had played a part.
The main objective of In The Bin Touring Festival is
to stimulate creativity in the short film sense, and break down the barriers of
producing short films. The first year In The Bin was held on the Gold
Coast 300 short film enthusiasts attended. In it’s sixth year there
were over 5,000 people enjoying the best of Australian Short Films on the Gold
Coast.
With the ability to function in any environment In
The Bin Touring Short Film Festival brings to the screen films that can be
enjoyed by everybody. A lot can be said in a short space of film and In
The Bin Touring Short Film Festival aims to change the perception of the
general public towards short films.
The flexibility of the projection and sound equipment
used by In The Bin means that the films can
be screened indoors or outdoors and can accommodate the requirements
of the venue.
In connecting your council to Australia’s fastest growing short film festival
we will send
you a festival pack consisting of 30 A3 full colour
promotional posters and 100 full colour festival programs plus additional
promotional material for the festival in 2007.
Once connected to In The Bin we will require contact
details from all media organizations in and around your community. This
will give us the opportunity to promote your event to the fullest extent.
However your community is more that welcome to promote your event yourselves.

There are two programs for the In The Bin

is the open category film festival with films rated no stronger than MA15+. In
The Bin is the stronger of the two festivals and has a major appeal from adult
audiences. Cat-orts is our new Family Festival offering non-offensive Parental
Guidance (PG) short films. For new communities interested in our festivals the
In The Bin Program would be our strongest recommendation for 2007.
2.

is an opportunity for budding short film makers to receive hands on experience
creating their own short films.
Four
short films will be made about the community in each program.
There will be four State of the Art 3-chip Digital Camera’s and four
editing systems designed for both educated use and beginners use. The

short film then they shoot and edit their own short film. On the third
night or afternoon the films are shown as part of In The Bin Film
Festival. More information is available at request.
In Closing
The council has complete control over the running of
In The Bin Short Film Festival and we are happy to adjust to any needs.
It is up to the council to lay out the venue where the films will be
screened. Whether it be an indoor or outdoor venue. It is also a
requirement that the council has a suitable location for the Education Program.
I do hope that your council is interested in
participating in this unique event, by no means is this an art-house
event. It is an event, which aims to prove to local communities that
short films are for the entertainment of everyone. Judging by the
increase of attendance at the In The Bin Currumbin Short Film Festival we are
starting to prove that on the Gold Coast.
“The tour provided a unique and entertaining
perspective on Australian film makers and culture, the likes not normally
available within the Longreach Shire.” Emily Harrison Events and
Community Development Officer Longreach Shire Council.
“In The Bin offered us a new and exciting
opportunity to fundraise for our arts community, prepared to build the event
for years to come we were surprised of its success this year. We are
looking forward to many more successful years to come.” Jenny Jones
President Keppel Coast Arts Council.
“It was a pleasure to work with Mr Cahill, all
preparations and performances were completed in a professional manner, and in
accordance with council plans.” Andrew Reid Director of Customer
and Community Services Duaringa Shire Council.
“The Education Program was a huge success to our
community; it is amazing what our students managed to create over such a short
period of time we are already looking to what might come out of the 2006
tour.” Andrew Reid Director of Customer and Community Services
Duaringa Shire Council.
“The Education Program was amazing; my 15 year
old son attended the workshops. I’ve never seen him go to bed so
early at night and then wake up and go to school so early the next day. The
workshops have taught him not only to make films, but also team work, and gave
him a stronger value of our town.” Parent of a participant in Charters Towers.
Due to the overwhelming success of our tours so far
positions fill up quickly. So if your community is interested please
respond in a non binding expression of interest. Thank you for taking In
The Bin into consideration and we look forward to growing a strong and healthy
relationship with your council for future years. Please reply as soon as
possible to ensure your tour date is secured for 2007.
