Empowering women through education

Wednesday March 8th is International Women's Day.   Celebrate the day by watching a YouTube film!   This film celebrates the diversity of Monash Clayton's female population and their drive to get involved with other women in the community.  It was a lot of fun to make and really shows what the day is all about!

What is the Video about?

STEW (Students Teaching English to Women) is a project started under Embrace Education which is committed to reaching out and supporting migrant and refugee women throughout Victoria. It was created because of the need seen around the Monash University Clayton area.  We are recruiting passionate pro-active university students who are inspiring; initiative and interested in broadcasting volunteer experiences through innovative expression.  Both men and women are very welcome to join although only women can volunteer with their local refugee community!

Our Aims:

STEW is establishing a core group of English tutors and students in the Clayton community who will be actively engaging and interacting with women of diverse cultures. STEW also places an emphasis on multiculturalism, integration, building bonds and being part of these women's intense desire to lead better lives.

Embrace Education, an organisation that links literally and culturally diverse secondary and primary school students with Monash University tutors in partnership with the female community of Monash University created STEW (Students Teaching English to Women)

Please send it off to all the people you know in your life! It's a sweet, simple message, women helping out local women in their community.

Cheers,

The STEW team
