Youth Off The Streets is a not for profit
organisation that works with disadvantaged young people who are recovering from
homelessness, addiction and abuse. We
believe that all young people in Australia should be given the
opportunity to achieve their best. Unfortunately, some young people face
barriers that prevent them from furthering their dreams & reaching their
goals.
The Youth Off The Streets Scholarship Program supports
young people who have a genuine desire to move forward, but who face
significant financial and personal barriers which make their everyday goals a
struggle. In 2007, 20 Scholarships of $5,000 each will be provided throughout Australia.
Nominations for the Youth Off The Streets Scholarship Program are
not restricted to a specific study or training path. Nominations are invited
from young people with genuine talent, ability and determination in any field, including (but not limited to):
education and training; visual or performing arts; sport; trade skills; and
music. The wide-ranging goals pursued by the scholarship recipients will
encourage other disadvantaged young people to follow their dreams.
Scholarship funds can
also be used for support costs such as equipment, uniform, textbooks,
stationery and some living expenses to ensure that the scholarship recipients
have every possible opportunity to reach their goals.
Nominations can be made by young people themselves or
on their behalf, and nominations are
now being taken. More information, including the nomination form and nomination
conditions are available on the Youth Off The Streets website www.youthoffthestreets.com.au.
The closing date for nominations is May 11th 2007 – this Friday!!!

Youth
Off The Streets supports young Australians as they work to turn their lives
around. It is our goal that these young people will leave our care drug free,
with a high school education, living skills and a full or part time job in
hand. Based on the philosophy that every young person has greatness within, our
programs are non-denominational and non-discriminatory.
