Writing for Young Adults Masterclass with Greg Bastian
Saturday 7 July and Sunday 8 July from 10-1 and 2-4pm each day
Demand for young adult fiction continues to grow, producing some of this country’s best imaginative work. This hands-on writing workshop will emphasise the themes, subjects, styles and characters that make this literary genre so rewarding and challenging. There will be plenty of writing exercises, analysis, feedback and discussion delivered in a challenging but supportive atmosphere by an experienced tutor and writer. All levels of writing ability and experience are welcome.
Greg’s latest novel is The Goldseekers, published by Harper Collins in 2006 to excellent reviews. Greg teaches creative writing to teenagers and adults in schools, universities, writers centres and evening colleges. He has been awarded an Australia Council writer’s fellowship and in 2003 was writer-in-residence at a Jesuit University in Seoul while researching cultural material for his latest book. He is well connected in the industry and prepares manuscript assessments and editor’s reports, specialising in general and young adult fiction, for a number of literary agencies.
