Subject:[youthgas] Melbourne: Invitation to premiere of reconciliation film
Date:Friday, July 6, 2007  06:52:16 (+1000)
From:Global Reconciliation Network <grn @..............au>

Dear Youthgassers,

We're very pleased to invite you to the premiere of "Karasevdah:
Srebrenica Blues" at the State Library Theatrette in Melbourne on
Friday 27th July 2007, 6-8pm.

Karasevdah is the first film by the young Melbourne director, Saidin
Salkic. It is a lyrical record of his return to Srebrenica twelve
years after the massacre that destroyed his family and led to his
arrival in Australia.

The film will be launched by Professor Marcia Langton, Chair of
Indigenous Studies at the University of Melbourne, and Professor
Richard Larkins, Vice Chancellor of Monash University.

Admission is free and refreshments will be provided. The film is 46
minutes long.
Ticket reservations are essential as seating is strictly limited. E-
mail grn@med.monash.edu.au or call Silvie on (03) 9903 0679

Sincerely,

Paul Komesaroff

"This cinematic document is truthful and this rare quality makes it
extraordinary. When I watched it, I was reminded of my own historical
burden and experiences in East Timor in 1999. While a very personal
statement about love and attachment, it answers the terrible question
on the lips of far too many people who have experienced such loss and
suffering: how can we overcome this intimacy with death and learn to
see the beauty and joy in the world? " Marcia Langton
