Hello All,
Last year I was one of the co-recipients of the group award, and this
year sit on the award committee. I thought it would be useful for
those those thinking about nominating to have a look at those who were
awarded last year.

Asghar (Oscar) Akbar - Islamic Rugby League
Asghar has been crucial to the development and establishment of the
Islamic Rugby League competition. He responded to a strong need within
the community and this has resulted in the development of an
innovative project that not only builds the confidence of the
participants but contributes to community wellbeing and harmonious
relationships.
Lana Godfrey - Qld Police & Citizens Youth Welfare Association
Lana is a Director on the board of the Queensland PCYC. In 2006 she
travelled across Queensland in a voluntary capacity assisting with the

days volunteering on Palm Island, funding the trip herself, working
with young people through the PCYC. As well as Lana's significant
board responsibilities, she also focuses on rural communities, helping

volunteer at home but also during her family holiday she volunteered
at an orphanage in Bali which is now benefiting from her fundraising
to repair the orphanage roof. Mia is in Year 12.

contribute to the community.
Jodie Stephenson- Queensland Haemophilia Foundation
