Do you have clients with chronic hep C?
Have any of them failed to respond to standard treatment?
If the answer is yes to these questions, then you may be interested in
helping promote recruitment to a trial that is studying a new
combination treatment.
Trial participants will be under specialist supervision and will incur
no out-of-pocket expenses. The trial is carried out in conjunction with
people's own doctors.
Trialling: Chenodeoxycholic acid / Bezafibrate
Investigating: The use of the lipid metabolism regulators to interfere
with a component of the hep C viral replication pathway. Bezafibrate and
chenodeoxycholic acid (CDCA) are currently individually marketed, in
some countries, for regulation of lipid metabolism. Preliminary
investigations particularly by Kurihara et al (2001), Fujita et al
(2006) and Hirata et al (2002) have shown that each of these drugs
exhibit potential activity against HCV infection.
Preliminary work at the Centre for Digestive Diseases indicates greatly
improved liver function in a very short period of time with almost no
adverse effects.
Contact: For more information about the trial, or in referring clients,
please contact..
