Hi all
The ACT Govt has introduced the Children and Young People Bill 2008, the Bill proposes significant changes to the law relating to children and young people in the ACT, particularly in the area of care and protection, government and agencies.
The ACT Youth Advisory Council are seeking young people's input into the proposed changes to the legislation regarding the Tattooing and Body Piercing of children and young people (under 18).
Two key questions the Council is asking young people for their thoughts:
Do you think 18 is an appropriate age for a young person to get piercing without parental consent? if not should it be older or younger?
Should there be a different age requirement or distinction between getting a tattoo or a piercing?
To have your say, you can log onto the Youth InterACT website www.youth.act.gov.au - 'Have your say'. This website encourages consultation with young people and is seeking your comments about Tattoos and Body Piercing. Your comments will be used by the Youth Advisory Council to advise the Minister for Children and Young People, Ms Katy Gallagher.
The Children and Young People Bill 2008, can be accessed at www.legislation.act.gov.au
Thanking you for your participation in this discussion.
