Every year in the Blue Mountains we have a large community event/festival called Winter Magic ... and ever year large numbers of young people put themselves at risk of harm by drinking. (apart from the obvious health issues there are number of assaults reported each year [including sexual assaults], and there are a number of arrests).
This year we are working toward establishing a "youth safe place" in the hope of minimizing harm.
Can anyone recommend or suggest any programs/strategies/supports etc that have been successful in managing youth intoxication at events ???
We were hoping there might be a (AOD) service provided in Sydney with a mobile team willing to come up for the day/night? We are also interested just to hear about the little things that people have done that has been effective!
Any thoughts or suggests will be greatly appreciated ...
