Hi everyone,
I would like to echo Richard's expression of support and gratitude to
young Aussies involved in the emergency relief effort of the Asia
Tsunami Disaster - I think it is excellent that young Aussies are
involved in such inspirational ways!!
I just caught the story of Jessica Maulder on Late Ten News tonight,
Monday 3 Jan 2004 and I have to say that her story of surviving and
then giving up her holiday to do such an emotional tasks for grieving
relatives in Thailand is truly just totally Aussie and totally
excellent!!
The Late Ten News tonight also mentioned another young Aussie helping
out overseas, Ineke Dane, and her story is also inspirational!!
While the news may portray these people as 'tabloid heroes' to some or
sensationalise these issues (as Ten News does to almost all real good
stories), I think it is more of case of these young Aussies just doing
what they think is the most help they can provide in their current
situations - well done to them!
And whilst every bit of effort to help the emergency relief and
recovery effort is commendable and good to hear, it is stories of
people like this, very similar to myself that makes me think that
Australia does care and that young Aussies are doing excellent things
in this time of need!
Again, echo'ing Richard - check out these stories!
Cheers,
Peter
