Hey
everyone,
Below are some really rewarding
opportunities for those living or studying in Victoria, as the 'VCE' in VCEnet
might suggest :D
VCEnet-
Editor
Mental Blank is a
fresh, new and energetic education company. We provide powerful and engaging
presentations which add clear and tangible value, challenging and enhancing the
way that students think. Ultimately we aim to enable students to learn and grow
not just so that they can excel at their studies, but more significantly, so
that they can succeed in life.
VCEnet is a subscription
service with an outreach section for disadvantaged
students dedicated to the VCE, providing inspiring and practical advice
from recent top VCE performers to current VCE students. To date, VCEnet has
assisted over 15,000 students.
As Editor, your role will be to ensure
that the content on VCEnet is brilliant, and that it is updated in a timely
fashion. You will need to edit some articles and to inject your personality in
newsletters to VCE students.
You should have at least a basic knowledge
of maths, sciences and humanities and a passion for assisting VCE students
succeed at their studies. An understanding of effective learning techniques, an
interest in personal development and youth participation are strong
advantages.
You must be able to cope under pressure, work to meet
deadlines and thrive on responsibility. It is crucial that you have developed
excellent communication skills, can comfortably interact with other people and
love to learn new things. You must be impeccably reliable, able to take the
initiative to lead groups and ultimately, to produce results. Experience in
organising events or working with other people is necessary. Tutoring experience
is useful.
VCEnet Subject Coordinator
Same intro to VCEnet as above, with, perhaps
unsurprisingly, a slightly different criteria:
As a subject coordinator, you must have a
perfect understanding of the VCE subject you are interested in coordinating (see
our website- www.vcenet.com.au as a
guide to the subjects we currently cover) based on its status in 2005,
a passionate interest in that field of study, strong written skills and the
ability to reflect your interesting personality in your writing. An
understanding of effective learning techniques and an interest in personal
development are strong advantages.

Applications
To apply for either of the above positions, please email a brief inspired letter of application (without your
CV) to andrew@mentalblank.com briefly (no
more than a page) outlining your suitability for this position.
Applications close on Thursday, January 20 for the Editor position
and on Thursday January 27 for the Subject Coordinator positions.
With the exception of the
tsunami, I hope you've all had a wonderful Christmas and continue to enjoy a
happy, safe, and productive New Year.
Regards,
Andrew
