Subject:[youthgas] Youth Surveys FYI

Teen Tangent has two surveys seeking youth participants:
Alana Garton (North Sydney Girls High) is undertaking a survey of accelerated students for the Society & Culture Personal Interest Project, a component of the HSC. The survey is aimed at comparing the self esteem of male and female accelerants. The survey contains 102 statements that the participant must rate by inserting an 'X' into the appropriate box. Participants must be in grade 5 or above and have been accelerated by one or more years above their chronological age. Accelerated homeschoolers can also participate for added information. Information from the surveys remains anonymous with the results presented in collated form. The survey is in the form of an Excel spreadsheet document and can be downloaded from the url
above and returned to Alana by email attachment at anneandgraeme@optushome.com.au

Macquarie Uni is also running some web surveys on young people's attitudes toward science, engineering & technology. More info is in the research section of Teen Tangent News & Links Database

Teen Tangent recently got to the semi-finals of the Microsoft Imagine Cup. The theme for 2005 was 'breaking down barriers'. I take this occasion to congratulate Brenton Fletcher (15), Digital Dimensions editor and site designer/developer for his entry as well as the individual contributors to Teen Tangent. The competition submission is found on the 'About Teen Tangent' page:
More of Brenton's work can be found at his site or the Williams Music Methodology web site.

regards
Rosie Williams
