While
commercial heavyweights open their new stations, Melbourne's
SYN 90.7 is broadcasting again after a massive renovation.
For
the past fortnight, SYN has been running 24 hours a day of pre-recorded
material. At 7am this morning, they flicked the switch to
return to air.
The
station overhaul involved a total rewiring of the master control room, new
lighting and improved soundproofing. A second production studio was added, to
allow more SYNners to practice their radio skills.
SYN
Programming Manager Ben Lewis
told radioinfo that the overhaul
shows just how important SYN is to Melbourne's young people.
"Led by our amazing tech department, the crew of
people aged under 26 took down and rebuilt an entire radio station,"
he said.
"SYN not only wants to make great radio, it wants the
best facilities to do it in. Our programming is unique and now are our
studios, which will serve us well into the future."
