Enterprise Exchange International (EXI) (formerly the Chutzpah
Factor) has recently accredited four courses in Entrepreneurship and
Enterprise Skills to be launched in 2006.
* Certificate II in Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Skills
* Certificate III in Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Skills
* Certificate IV in Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Skills
* Diploma of Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Skills
Courses are based on PhD research undertaken at the University of
Queensland that found similarities between youth at-risk and
successful entrepreneurs.
The Certificates develop enterprising skills in students and can
facilitate the development of a new venture, based on student's
passion. Students can graduate with a viable business plan, clear
vocational pathways, mentoring and a nationally recognised qualification.
Courses target ALL students but are particularly effective in
engaging youth at-risk.
Enrollments are now open for enrollments in Certificate II in
Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Skills for
* Train the Trainers
* Young students
Train the Trainer Training is designed to skill adults (teachers,
youth workers, professionals etc) to deliver training to Cert II
Level, and to mentor youth in new venture creation.
Student courses can be run in schools and/or community based organisations.
Pilot projects of the course content commenced in 2004 and are
currently running in Qld, NSW and Victoria. Without exception,
facilitator and student feedback report a significant improvement in
students' ENTERPRISING SKILLS, such as
* Confidence, autonomy and happiness!
* Vocational insights and skills
* Motivation and ability to secure employment where this had not
previously occurred
* Motivation to continue further education at school or other
education provider.
* Ethical intentionality
A specific example of the successful development of ENTREPRENEURIAL
SKILLS is evident from a 12 week pilot in Victoria. Two young
Chutzpah Factory Bendigo graduates established a new youth consulting
venture which is securing an average of three job contracts per week.
The consulting venture trains youth-services and government staff to
work more effectively with young people. The Chutzpah Factory
graduates have now achieved the following in 20 weeks:
* Competence in Certificate II in Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Skills
* Traineeships/seed funding to run and grow their venture
* Enrolled in Certificate III in Entrepreneurship and Enterprise
Skills at the Chutzpah Factory Bendigo
* Enrolled in and completed Series 1 of the Train the Trainer in
Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Skills
* Enrolled in Cert II Business Administration
* Peer mentoring to new Chutzpaniks and local youth enrolled at a
local on-line School.
* Production of a training video by and about young people.
Finally, in the coming weeks the ABC 7.30 Report will screen a
production of a Qld based Entrepreneurship and Enterprise project.
The segment shows this work in action.
