Description
This one day course covers the
basics of hepatitis C, with a focus on the level of information required for
community and youth workers in their day-to-day
work.
Hepatitis C is the most commonly
reported notifiable infection in Australia, with more than 16,000 new infections
estimated to be occurring each year in Australia. This course aims to
provide essential and practical information about how to address these
issues.
This interactive workshop will
include:

The
basics of hepatitis C, including hepatitis C prevention, management and
treatment
·
The
impact of discrimination and other psychosocial issues on people with hepatitis
C
·
Harm
reduction strategies and the role of Needle Syringe Programs
(NSPs)
·
Exploring the
relevance of these issues to community and youth
organisations
·
Developing an
awareness of the range of resources and services available to support your work
·
A
presentation from a person living with hepatitis C
